take time to find and discover ….
Dordogne Aerial Dance Atelier (DADA), is a holistic event for the global community. DADA is ideal for aerial and dance practitioners keen to improve technique, take time for research and creation, and truly focus on personal and professional development. DADA offers a mix of technique & creative workshops and masterclasses in aerial skills, dance, acrobatics, yoga, handstand, creation to production, and rigging in a rich environment where you are immersed in aerial and ground-based movement.
Over the course of six days and five nights we stretched, climbed, worked, explored and discovered muscles that we didn’t think we had. Our fuel, eating delicious Ayervedic food whilst exchanging stories with like-minded people, overlooking the Dordogne countryside. As artists, we never stop, we change over the years, we define our craft, we explore and discover.
“The community spirit was wonderful, each person arriving with a different motivation. Starting each day with an early yoga class followed by technique classes, then creation and masterclasses in the afternoon. All in all, an intense period and by day two I felt I had known everyone for an age. The heart of the event, as a participant mentioned, is to live the experience of the exchanges and to learn. We fly, dance and we remain grounded, with our DADA teachers there to guide us for which we trust. We learnt lots and we are extremely excited to be focusing on DADA 2022.

classes & ateliers
Our classes includes a daily warm up (yoga or dance class) an atelier/workshop each day, starting with creation, learning about the power of food, learn how to massage and practical rigging for performers. We are delighted to host some incredible tutors from the vertical dance and aerial community who are active as dancers, aerialists, teachers, mentors and choreographers from around the globe.

The DADA convention is not for beginners, each class has a description and informs you of the level. Please study the levels definition below :

A head-to-toe warm up, that will generate heat in the body through breath, and open the body through a series of repetitive short movement sequences which we’ll build on as the week progresses. We will work also in contact improvisation tasks working in pairs and in groups, gently giving and taking weight and finding techniques for flying, partnering and floor work, leaving you energised and prepared for whatever the day ahead may bring.

12h00 – 13h30 Presentation + sharing of work (not obligatory)
The DADA presentation is a chance to show new skills or improve existing ones. A week is not long enough to create new piece of work, but we hope long enough to inspire and start a new journey. These sacred times of learning and being within a community is important for personal growth and self-development. As an artist you never stop, even if you are no longer performing it’s a good way to connect with yourself and others, your art, and the love of being in the air or moving, exploring and finding new ways to express.
